Hands – Osteonecrosis

This is a strange condition where the blood supply to a bone stops and the bone dies. There are numerous modifiable risk factors which we try to address in the treatment of this.

Keinbocks (avascular necrosis of the lunate)

This is associated with having a short ulna. The treatment of this depends on the degree of symptoms. Often very advanced arthritis can have few symptoms.

Priesers (avascular necrosis of the scaphoid)

This is much less common that Keinbocks. Non-operative management with splinting and oral medication are often successful. If unsuccessful a SNAC wrist procedure will give good results.
